Sam Stroebel

Registered Associate

Sam Stroebel is a Registered Associate providing confidential counseling and psychological services to children ages 10+, teens, and adults.

I believe creativity and nature can be tools for healing and often introduce expressive arts-combining writing with collage or watercolor or nature-based work connecting clients to seasonal shifts and their environments.

Philosophy

Hello and welcome! I am Sam.

Honoring the seasons in your life

I will meet you where you are- listening deeply and moving at your pace. Therapy to me is a collaborative relationship shaped by both of our identities and experiences. My work centers on a deep understanding that in our darkest hours, we need witnessing-not fixing.

As a relational, holistic, and compassion-focused counselor, my work is centered on building more safety and connection. We’ll explore how you relate to yourself, to others who matter, our community, nature, and spirit. Grounded in attachment-based understandings and body awareness, we will get curious, honoring your process as we explore what hurts, needs attention, and wants to shift.

I may invite mindfulness, compassion-focused imagery, and body-based practices, such as soothing breathwork and body scans into the space. I believe creativity and nature can be tools for healing and often introduce expressive arts-combining writing with collage or watercolor or nature-based work connecting clients to seasonal shifts and their environments.

Therapy with me means we're in this together, and you set the direction, while I help navigate. We'll address what's bringing you in today while leaving room to explore the patterns and stories from your past that still show up, and collaborate on the life you're moving toward.

Education and Experience

I work alongside individuals ages 10 and up and have experience companioning folks navigating:

  • Grief and loss
  • Anxiety, depression, and overwhelm
  • Shame and isolation
  • Life transitions
  • Painful relational & early childhood experiences
  • Burnout & compassion fatigue

Ongoing Education:

  • I will begin training for attachment-informed EMDR in Spring 2026
  • Self study and group study for Internal Family Systems
  • I also seek educational opportunities through organizations including PESI, ACA, The Embody Lab, Conscious Life, and The Institute of Birth, Breath, and Death

But education also looks like:

The lessons learned from being alongside people in their darkest hours, to celebrate their joyous moments, and sit in the in-between with deep reverence.

I am also grateful for ongoing supervision and consultation and use of these spaces to grow as a practitioner and human. And my own experiences with grief, loss, the natural world, and seasons, are welcomed teachers and inform the way I show up in relationships.

Fun Facts About Sam Stroebel

While I was born and raised in Central Oregon, I feel the most myself on the coast. Before my career in counseling, I spent a decade in the food industry, including 5 years as a cheesemonger.

I am an avid moviegoer, known for reading 3-4 books at a time, I love traveling and meeting new people near and far. I like creative projects where I can add seasonal and natural elements. I am a huge animal lover, with a childhood dream of either being a vet or marine biologist. People who know me well say I am a bit of a magpie when it comes to collecting rocks and such.

I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, walking outside rain, snow, or shine. I believe food can be medicine. I enjoy journaling and writing and I am currently in the beginning stages of writing a children’s book about forgiveness.
